Chris Noeth

CHRIS NOETH’s love of comics began when he was just three years old, when his grandmother read him the texts of superhero comics such as Spiderman and Superman. He quickly learned to read so that he could immerse himself in the world of these fantastic stories. The Superman movie did the rest and gave him a lifelong soft spot for superheroes and the desire to tell his own comic stories one day. Chris’ love is not just for superheroes, however, but for all comic stories, from Asterix to Donald Duck, and later an enthusiasm for developing computer games was added. He published his first text adventure game for the Commodore 128 at the age of 16. After studying computer science, Chris worked as a graphic designer and art director for various games companies and also as a comic artist for US publishers. In 2013, he founded his own indie games studio McPeppergames (www.McPeppergames.com) and develops his own games. As his first love is still comics, these are now also among his creations. The Maya series and Dark Zero together form his comic debut as an author. Dark Zero is also available from SPLITTER.

The SPLITTER publishing house will soon be launching a KICKSTARTER for two special editions of Maya and Dark Zero. Don’t miss out and sign up here:

Maya

Maya’s life is no bed of roses: Her mother is a drug addict, her mother’s boyfriend is a violent dealer, and Hell’s Kitchen is still a damn rough place to live in the near future. One shitty day, an argument with her “stepfather” escalates completely, and Maya ends up on the roof of her apartment building with a knife in her chest. She only survives by an insane coincidence, because at that very moment a helicopter explodes above her, carrying an ultra-secret alien substance. Contact with it changes Maya’s life forever! Not only is she healed, she also develops incredible powers. Powers that make her a target for an unscrupulous tech corporation and an unstoppable assassin…

Chris Noeth’s hard-hitting sci-fi thriller Maya combines an action-packed coming-of-age story full of moral pitfalls with artwork in the best Top Cow tradition by Ricardo Silva.

With 16 pages of bonus material in the first edition!

Der kleine Perry

What would it be like to fly to the stars?

Young Perry Rhodan wants nothing more than to explore space. He was born with this dream, as his mother built the famous spaceship Stardust. One day, Perry takes his mouse beaver Gucky on a trip to the desert to watch the launch of the Stardust live. But an undetermined force suddenly teleports Perry and Gucky aboard the spaceship. They quickly have to buckle up, because they are on their way directly to the moon, where the adventure really begins.

Perry Rhodan for young readers and fans of the series

“Perry Rhodan” is the greatest science fiction series in the world. But what would it have been like if the famous space hero had plunged into his adventures as a young boy? Olaf Brill and Michael Vogt – who have both already left their mark on the Perry universe – tell Perry Rhodan’s story from the beginning and in a completely new way! For the first time, Perry experiences his adventures as a child – and in comic form! Author and illustrator show themselves responsible for a great adventure that promises entertainment for young readers and fans alike.

Jo-Kurt Berger

Jo-Kurt Berger, born in 66, came to comic drawing late in life due to a stroke of fate.

At the age of 43, a stroke put him out of action. He had to painstakingly learn to walk, talk and write again. As a therapy for his affected right hand, he was advised to play the piano more. Much to the chagrin of his neighbours.

When he finally took up pen and pencil, he began to record his experiences from the Ländle.

The result was his first volume of “Schwabenteuer” (Swabian Adventures) about Stuttgart. Six more volumes were to follow.

Schwabenteuer

Swabia as it lives and breathes – “from abg’schaffte Hausfraue to train breakdown”. Truly shrill and weird scenes to make you laugh out loud take place in distinctive and well-known places like our Swabian capital or on one of Berger’s countless tours through the state or across the republic, where he, as a Swabian, never puts his foot in his mouth.

Recorded in the finest comic style in eight volumes.

Jan Bintakies

Jan Bintakies begins his life in 1977 in Frankfurt am Main. At first, he paints off at his big sister’s, who mainly puts horses and tigers on paper. But from the beginning, creatures of the underworld and the Mesozoic populate his brain, which he brings to life in little stories. For a long time he is able to hide his obsession more badly than well. He now works as an illustrator in Hanover. In 2017, Matze Ross meets him, and their joint debut work “Ein verdammter Handschlag” (A Damn Handshake) is born.

Ein verdammter Handschlag:

What do you do when a stranger offers you 6,000 euros for a handshake? Small-time loser Luca Stoffels doesn’t waste much time, because he can really use the money: Not only is he broke and his belligerent ex has cleaned him out – Luca is also in debt to a dangerous gangster couple. Luca enthusiastically agrees, but this brings him out of the frying pan into the fire: Benedikt Bosch wants Luca’s soul in exchange for the money. The black magician has sold his own soul to the demon Faffnir in exchange for luck and unlimited success, and he wants to take Bosch’s soul very soon. But because the deal is transferable, Bosch is off the hook if he can find someone stupid enough to step into the breach for him. With Luca, he has now found this fool, because he doesn’t believe a word he says: hell, demons – yeah, right! But no sooner has Luca stepped in than Faffnir really appears. Luca has only one chance: he has to find someone to take over the deal very quickly. The countdown is on – he only has 24 hours left!

The fast-paced debut work by author Matze Roß and illustrator Jan Bintakies not only offers a demonic amount of action and devilishly lively humor, but also looks like hell! If you don’t get into it, it’s your own fault.

Splitter has been publishing Franco-Belgian, European and US genre comics and graphic novels since 2006. The initial two monthly novelties have now grown to 15. In autumn 2010, the publishing house also received a new addition in the form of the newly founded funny and cartoon imprint Toonfish, the publishing home of the Smurfs.

Splitter sees itself as a diverse thematic publisher with a big heart for genre: next to the graphic novel is the space opera, next to the comic reportage the horror shocker. Here, Moebius and Peyo, Erich Maria Remarque and Stephen King, James Bond and Marcel Pagnol meet on equal terms. In short: the boundaries between E and U are at best there to be torn down.

Over the years, many hardcover and special formats have become firmly established in our programme: four-colour albums in standardised oversize format; Collector’s Editions enriched with lots of bonus material and special prints; bibliophile complete editions of central comic classics in XXL size; the Splitter Doubles summarising miniseries at a reasonable price; the Splitter Books in handy book format as well as the small-format softcover editions MiniSplitt. For collectors’ hearts, selected series are also provided with fine slipcases.

The publishing house publishes an extensive monthly newsletter, a bi-annual catalogue of around 200 pages for our customers (in print and as a PDF), is represented on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and in the Comicforum and regularly at the major German comic and book fairs. Splitter is also co-publisher of the online comic magazine Comic.de.
