Pilou Asbæk, another popular character from the successful Game of Thrones series, joins the CCON | COMIC CON STUTTGART guest list. The Danish actor can be seen there as Euron Greyjoy.
Pilou Asbæk graduated from the “Danish National School of Theatre” in 2008 and has become one of Danish cinema’s biggest talents. He debuted on screen in 2008 in Niels Arden Oplev’s Worlds Apart and in 2010 he played the lead character Rune in Tobias Lindholm and Michael Noer’s prison drama R. For this performance he was awarded “Best Actor “ at the Danish Critic’s Association Awards, “Bodil”, and the Danish Academy Awards, “Robert”, in 2011.
From 2010-2013, Pilou played the spin doctor, Kasper Juul, in the BAFTA winning political drama series Borgen. In 2012 Pilou won the Danish TV Award “Best Actor in TV” for this part.
Pilou then went on to work with Tobias Lindholm once again in the critically acclaimed A Hijacking (2012) and made his international debut with Luc Besson’s Lucy (2014). Followed by A War (2015) – which marks his third collaboration with Lindholm and has been selected as the official Academy Award submission for Denmark for 2015.
In 2015 Pilou Asbæk starred in Ben Hur for MGM and the independent feature Woodshock opposite Kirsten Dunst which was directed by the Mulleavy sisters (aka RODARTE). In 2016 Pilou shot Dreamworks/Paramount’s Ghost in the Shell in which he starred opposite Scarlett Johansson. In 2017 he starred in the film Guardian Angel as Anders Olsen which was released this year in March, and Pilou also starred in the film Overlord as Wafne which is set to release in October this year.
